Mention the word “diet” to a dozen people and you will get a dozen very different reactions and stories, good and bad, on everything from super-foods to starvation.
The popular, and successful, Low Carb Diet is no exception. Even in this one diet, there are many differing opinions. Just about everything is up for debate; good carbs vs bad carbs, good fat vs bad fat, etc. etc.
What can we believe? After all, diets come and go. Is this another fad? The truth is, fad diets disappear for a reason – they don't work. Well, this is no fad... the Low Carb Diet works! The proof is in the research, and the results.
In this book, I offer a simple guide to understanding the basics of the low carb diet, why it works, and how this diet can easily become a part of even the most frugal household.

OK, but not as great as I was expecting. It drives me nuts that I must swipe for each step of the directions. Why not just put it all on one page or two if needed? Also, the nutrition info needs to be added. Some of the low carb recipes can not really be that low carb with some of the high sugar juices and fruits that are included. An example: Orange, Pineapple, and Banana Smoothie. This might easily be about 30 carbs or more. To me, that is not low carb.Product details

Low Carb Recipes The Frugal Low Carb Cookbook edition by Hillbilly Housewife Health Fitness Dieting eBooks Reviews
This is one of few low carb books that stresses being flexible and looking at it as a lifestyle and not overly strict. Great recipes, too!
I would have liked to see a lot more recipes. The book is pretty short for a cookbook, otherwise I would have given it more stars. I do enjoy the Hillbilly Housewife newsletter very much.
I don't remember ordering this book. If I did, I never got it.
I've read, or started to read, many of the BIG low carb diet books. They all have their merits, I'm sure, but they can sure get tedious! I mean, how much science do you REALLY want when learning about a diet and how it works? I just want to know the basics why does it work, how does it work, and what can I eat?
This eBook is the perfect low carb diet guide. It's a fast read that explains the "whys and hows" quickly and without a bunch of gobbledegook that I don't need to know. In just a few pages, I understood the difference between good carbs and bad carbs, and how to eat a balanced diet and still lose weight.
There are enough recipes to keep me happy, and I appreciate the fact that the recipes are frugal and easy to make. Some of those recipes in the BIG low carb books are complicated, and with ingredients I would never consider buying. This is a basic guide that explains the low carb diet in simple terms and offers good recipes to try. That's all I wanted and the Hillbilly Housewife delivered!
I really wasn't crazy about this cookbook, but it was free and I realize the author/blogger isn't a professional. There were only a few recipes in this "book" and I was not impressed with any of them, though I appreciate the author's effort in wanting to help other women.
As a gal who was born and raised in small Kentucky town where there was no mall and conveniences of the big city, I find any time you want to be healthy, whether it's losing weight or quitting smoking or anything, you should take baby steps and be as close to nature as possible.
That being said, this book was awesome. I loved how it didn't specify low-fat or fat-free for stuff like cream cheese in the Super Mixed Crunch Veggie WRAP.
I already know that I will love the low-fat chips recipe (they're Kale and ) and unlike some recipe books which leave it till the end, she gives detailed tips so you can make the recipes as filing or as simplistic as your taste, budget and local availability allow. Other faves that deserve mention are Savory Eggplant Pate, Creamy Festive Hummus,a crunchy Coleslaw where cucumbers and red peppers flakes provide that "something fresh and crispy vs. spicy" that would make for an unforgettable taste. I know I will also try the Greek Marinaded Chicken Veggie Skewers and the Dijon Almond Chicken (with thighs of course). So get this book, it's sounds so delicious and has nutritious yet unique twists on old favorites and new dishes so that even if you just like to eat and do not diet at all, you will try out 1 recipe or two.
I found and still find Hillbilly Housewife's "Low Carb Recipes - The frugal low carb cookbook," highly practical, apt and educative.
The information on the need to maintain a low carb diet, as opposed to totally eliminating carbs from your diet is truly helpful in getting the right perspective and the recipes are contemporary, easy to use, with readily accessible ingredients and interesting outcomes that make the entire package deilightful!
Of course, it would have been excellent if it also gave calorie counts/carb content per recipe but its simplicity is a plus.. Definately worth your time.
OK, but not as great as I was expecting. It drives me nuts that I must swipe for each step of the directions. Why not just put it all on one page or two if needed?
